“This is an amazing organisation on the ground, helping people. If you want to help anyone in the UK, Home-Start is the best way to do it.” – Kirstie Allsopp, tv presenter, Home-Start ambassador
Do you believe that every child deserves the best start in life?
As a family and children’s charity, we believe that every child deserves a safe place to live and play as well as protection from the effects of poor physical and mental health.
Our Bedfordshire charity has supported thousands of vulnerable children. Many young children are surrounded by hardship or tragedy including bereavement, disability, poor nutrition, neglect or parental mental ill health. They are affected by financial hardship, food shortages and unsafe environments to live and play.
We need your support. Just £15 per week enables us to provide help for a child and their family. Fundraise for charity and help us give a local child a Home-Start. The donations and money you raise will directly help local children and their families in Bedfordshire and Luton.
By supporting us and fundraising for charity you can make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children and struggling families living in the area. Get started today with our fundraising ideas and get in touch for your fundraiser pack.
“This is a fantastic organisation and whether you volunteer, fundraise, or make a donation there is no better thing to do for those children who won’t have a good start in life.” – Kirstie Allsopp, tv presenter, Home-Start ambassador
Team & Personal Fundraising Ideas
Ready to take on a challenge? Whether you are charity fundraising newbie or veteran, we have ideas and organised events for all fundraisers to enjoy. Have fun with your friends and family and achieve a personal goal. All while raising money to help local children!
Here’s some of the team and individual fundraising ideas other Home-Start fundraisers have used to get your creativity flowing:
- Bike rides
- Sponsored run or walks
- Mud run or obstacle course
- Sponsored climb
- Coffee mornings
- Events such as concerts, balls, play days and more
Our charity has regular appeals for fundraisers to get involved with. Please contact us for information on our next appeal and tell us your team or personal fundraising idea. If you want to fundraise for charity, we have Home-Start fundraising packs, request yours today. We also love to have the support of local schools and nurseries, colleges and university students.
Before you send the money in, don’t forget to check if your employer runs a matched giving scheme as this is an excellent way to increase your fundraising through your workplace. Many companies across the UK are keen to support employees who are involved in raising money for charities and have a ‘charity budget’, so it’s always worth asking. If not, they may be able to donate prizes or help to get employees on board with your fundraising.
Company Fundraising Ideas
Holding a company fundraising event is a brilliant way to get staff involved with supporting a cause. Here’s some company fundraising ideas to get you started:
- Loose Change Collection – collect pocket change from people at your work. You’d be surprised how much money you could raise!
- Dress-Down Day – wear your casual clothes to work for a donation. This could be a regular event and is always popular with office staff and bosses alike.
- Bring in Your Own Food Fridays – bring a packed lunch to work and donate what you would have spent on food to Home-Start
- Fancy Dress Day – raise donations and have fun competing with your colleagues! A great place to look for inexpensive shirts and outfits is your local charity shops, with the added benefit of giving more to another great cause.
- Quizzes, Balls & Other Charity Events – many companies have seasonal staff events. Why not hold an event in aid of our child support services?
However much your company fundraises, we are always grateful of your support. Online fundraising tools like Just Giving are designed to help you fundraise for charity. Promoting your fundraising activities online is always a good idea for encouraging donors from outside your organisation. Tell us your company’s fundraising idea, we would love to help!

How To Fundraise
Ready to get some sponsors, fundraise for charity and take on your challenge? We can help with your online fundraising; fundraisers can create pages to raise money for us on JustGiving. Please take care to make sure you have our exact Home-Start Central Bedfordshire account as we are part of a network of more than 280 Home-Starts who all fundraise separately for vulnerable children in our own communities.
If you prefer not to use online fundraising, please don’t hesitate to contact us for sponsorship forms. We are happy to help.
T-Shirts, Posters & Banners
We would love to see you sporting our charity’s colours! We can provide Home-Start t-shirts, poster templates and event materials. These are subject to availability. Please contact us in advance of your fundraising event with your request.
Increase your donations at no additional cost to you! Qualifying donations made by UK taxpayers can be worth an extra 25% under the Government’s Gift Aid scheme. Please consider Gift Aid as this could add another 25p to every £1 you raise for our non profit organisation.
