Home-Start, A Family & Children’s Charity
Home-Start Central Bedfordshire helps young children and their families who are struggling with physical and mental ill health, disabilities, bereavement and domestic abuse.
Do you believe that every child deserves the best start in life?
Home-Start Central Bedfordshire provides vital support services to families with young children in Central Bedfordshire and Luton. Home-Start is one of the leading family support charities in the UK. Since 1984 our charity has been helping local young children and their families struggling to cope with…
- Disabilities and additional needs
- Domestic violence and abuse
- Poverty, financial issues and unsafe environments
- Mental ill health
- Hunger, poor nutrition, neglect
- …and more
We believe that every child deserves a safe place to live and play as well as protection from the effects of poor physical and mental health. Therefore Home-Start works directly in the homes of families across the county, helping parents to build better lives for all our children.
A Local Charity
Home-Start Central Bedfordshire is a registered charity and one of the leading voluntary non-profit organisations in the area. For more than 30 years we have been improving the lives of thousands of local families because we believe every child deserves the best start in life.
Many vulnerable families are referred to us each year in need of help and our waiting list is growing. Our crucial support is often given through our volunteer home visiting service. In addition, we run regular support and prevention groups for women suffering from mental ill health and domestic violence or abuse.
We always aim to help families with young children get through hardship and back on their feet; providing support until they no longer need us. As a result, Home-Start benefits the entire community through our child and family support services. Find out more about our current projects in our charity news blog.
“Home-Start was my shining light at the end of what often seemed to be a very long and dark tunnel.”
There are so many benefits to joining our team of over 100 Bedfordshire volunteers! Especially if you want to gain valuable skills and training. All you need to apply is parenting experience. Without the generosity of our trained volunteers, our charity could not exist.
