Elaine’s training to run the London Marathon

Our thanks to Elaine Wylie from the MRN who is currently training to run the London Marathon in aid of our charity. Elaine has been busy putting her running shoes to good use, here’s how her training is progressing so far…

Hi Everyone, Thank you for taking the time to look at the first update of my marathon training. Some of you will know that Home-Start has secured a fundraising place in the London Marathon 2017 and have very kindly given me the opportunity to run the 26 miles! I was very pleased to accept this challenge and am excited whilst rather daunted.

Elaine Run The London Marathon

Marathon Training

I have run 2 marathons in the last 5 years and have times of 4 hours 57 mins and 4 hours 21 mins and really hope that this year I can gain a personal best. I started training back in November 2016 but having hit January I am now following a programme that takes me to the “ Race Day” in April. This is a 16-week programme which is currently making me run 4 or 5 times a week where ever I am and whatever the weather! Business has taken me to the other side of the world in January, so last week I did an 8 mile run including over the Sydney Harbour Bridge – you can see the Sydney Opera House in the background of the photo!

If you’re reading this and would like to support this amazing charity whilst encouraging me to do those extra miles, please follow the link to my marathon fundraising page.

Best of luck to Elaine with her training to run the London Marathon from everyone at Home-Start Central Bedfordshire. It’s easy to not realise how much preparation is needed for this endurance contest. We look forward to hearing more about Elaine’s marathon training in her next running update.
